Economics conference

The year 13 economics students attended a sixth form economics conference in London, where they had an incredible opportunity to hear lectures from a range of distinguished speakers, including Ed Balls (broadcaster, economist, and former Shadow Chancellor), Tim Harford (economist, Financial Times journalist, and author of The Undercover Economist), and Paul Johnson (Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies), among others. The talks offered fascinating insights into the recent Labour budget, its potential impact on the future of the UK economy, and thought-provoking stories about legendary economists such as John Maynard Keynes and Irving Fisher.

The conference also provided students with the chance to engage in discussions on questions such as: “Should there be a maximum wage?” and “Should the UK prioritise trade policies with the US or the EU?” These sessions allowed students to share their opinions and deepen their understanding of the real-world issues shaping economics today.
