Sixth form students

We now have over 330 students studying a wide range of A-level and BTEC Level 3 courses. Our sixth formers are an integral part of the comprehensive community and benefit from the size and variety of our large and vibrant school.

Sixth form studies are designed to ensure exam success and help students become independent thinkers and learners – not only through their main examination courses but also through the acquisition of key skills, involvement in the enrichment programme, and a highly effective tutorial support and guidance structure.

We aim to combine a friendly and informal atmosphere with high expectations and high standards of achievement. Highlands Sixth Form is proud to be ranked 106th out of 4,352 sixth forms in England and 47th amongst all state school sixth forms. Our exceptional progress score, which is well above average, reflects our commitment to excellence. This achievement is driven by the quality of our teaching, learning, and curriculum, the inclusive nature of our sixth form, and our unwavering dedication to ‘going the extra mile’ for our students. It stands as a testament to the hard work of our students and the relentless support of our sixth form team.

Hi, I'm Miss Husseyin, the director of sixth form.

At Highlands, we have developed an ambitious curriculum which uses innovative teaching and learning approaches to make sure that our students have a real deep understanding of their subjects.

Alongside this, we have a large and extensive pastoral team who have students’ wellbeing at the forefront of what they do. We also have a huge alumni network, and we use this network to support our students with their pathways and destinations, whether that be through mentoring or support with online tests.

Over 90% of our students have gone on to their first choice university destinations. We now have students studying medicine and students doing apprenticeships at finance firms like Black rock or law firms like Alan and Overy.

Hi, my name is Ethan, and I'm one of the head students this academic year. As an external student, I am proud to be given this opportunity and to leave my mark at this amazing school.

I'm Eleanor, and I'm one of the head students for this year. We are here to make sure that the student voice is heard and has the power to make a difference. We want Highlands to be a place where each student can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
